AIR FRANCE GUPPY. Air France has announced that its first A380 (pictured) will begin flying between New York and Paris this November, making it the first European carrier to offer transatlantic service with the 538-passenger behemoth. (Might be cool for Europe-bound ATL passengers to route over JFK to ride on this big bird.)
DELTA OUT OF MUMBAI. Earlier this year, Delta cut out its non-stop ATL-Mumbai flight and moved it to New York. Well, it’s now cut out that flight to, leaving Delta without any nonstops from the US to India. However, you can still get there from ATL via Delta with stops in either Amsterdam or Paris.
DELTA TO SYDNEY: FIRST HAND LOOK. “I just returned from Australia, taking the new Delta service from Atlanta to Sydney. A very, very good experience, and the flight fills a significant gap in the Delta routes. If you fly from Atlanta, make sure to take Flight 243 to/Flight 244 from LAX. It’s the same plane that goes on to Sydney, which means you can’t miss your connection in LAX, and the layover is only two hours. The 777 is configured in business class for international travel, and Delta’s service is at least as good as any on the route. The crew was very attentive, and my flights were all on time. Plus, the points you earn (both MQM and generally) help out considerably for those committed to flying Delta. And right now, with Delta’s and V-Australia’s addition to this route, the fares are at the moment excellent buys–as low as $900 RT in coach. Interested in going to Australia? Now is the time.” —R Barkoff
CANCUN IN BIZ CLASS DEAL. AirTran has an ongoing business class roundtrip fare of just $400 from ATL. Not a bad deal for a nice late summer getaway!
