I made the following video for my Best Western blog at www.youmustbetrippin.com and it’s sorta gone viral (nearly 1000 views as of Aug 27)
It’s a video report on the opening of the cool new Hotel Avatar in Santa Clara, Calif….in the heart of Silicon Valley. Very clever re-do of the classic motel with all the modern amenities you’d expect, like free and fast wifi, nice pool, gym with elliptical trainers, etc.
Rates start in the very reasonable range of about $130 per night and it’s a nice colorful change compared to a lot of the beige box hotels in the area.
Check out the two min video and see for yourself:
Norwegian is huge nowadays — have seriously given Ryanair and easyJet a run for their money. They have a second hub in Stockholm, and a huge presence in Copenhagen, Helsinki (see a Nordic theme here?) and Gatwick. So no surprise that they’re flying to the US from both Oslo and Stockholm.
Congratulations, Chris on the new upcoming changes to The BAT. Looking forwarding to seeing the unveiling.
Also, I understand, Norwegian Air will also be receiving 787-9s, the longer version of the present plane. Though the 777 holds more people, it is far more reliable it seems, and should be used temporarily until the 787 mechanical issues are slim to none.
. Norwegian Air and the 787 has been a disaster in regards to reliability. Any one wants to guess when OAK sees the first HiFly or Euro Atlantic jet operating as a sub for Norwegian.
Many more delays these days on Southwest. It’s gotten to the point that you have to build in at least a one hour delay for your schedule especially on flights after Noon.
Definitely have had on time issues with Southwest of late. One example from last month, flight to LAX scheduled for a Friday at 8 am, SW took that plane (which would have been on time) and switched it to a San Diego flight, leaving LAX flight with a plane with mechanical issues. Gate said LAX would “hopefully” depart “around noon”, but they had no clue. Completely disorganized and chaotic. No other flight options on a Friday, everything booked. So we left SFO, took a cab home, and drove to LA – got there faster than our Southwest flight would have gotten us there. My recent flights have been avoiding Southwest in favor of other carriers.
