European designers have come up with a super cool new business class seat idea: Stacked pods or “capsules” that offer privacy AND a 76″ true flat bed for sleeping. (Link to full article here from TerminalU.)
Right now it’s just a concept, but it’s a good one and makes me hopeful for the future of good sleep on overnight transoceanic flights. What do you think? Would you book a private pod for your next business trip?

Makes me feel claustrophobic just looking at it!
At first glance, the design reminds me of those Pan Am rockets shuttling passengers to the orbiting space station in 2001: A Space Odyssey. The design doesn’t work for me, on a few issues:
1) how the heck do you get in and out of the seats? Both upper and lower seats would be difficult.
2) where’s the beloved overhead storage bin – or any storage, for that matter?
3) I can just see the flight attendant unions objecting to having to bend down to serve a meal to someone in the lower seats.
