You think flying in first class is luxurious? Or maybe in a six- or eight-seat private jet?
Hah!
How about this: Imagine the largest, most lavish hotel suite you possibly can. Then put wings on it.
That’s the kind of work they do at Kirkland, Washington-based Greenpoint Technologies, a company that provides aircraft interiors for VIP, corporate and commercial airline clients.
Except they do it in reverse. They start with the shell of a big jet, then build a customized luxury interior beyond your wildest dreams.
Of course, you’d need many millions of dollars (besides the cost of the plane) to custom-build something like a 747-8 to your specifications, but it has been done. The company won’t say who recently received the plutocratic wide-body; its press release says only a “confidential client“).
Greenpoint has also designed lavish interiors for the new 787-9, although most of its work involves creating cabins for the Boeing Business Jet, i.e., a reconfigured 737. The company works only on Boeing aircraft, and does all of its own manufacturing and installations; it even has a shop to custom-design and build cabinetry.
Below are some images of the company’s 747-8 and 787-9 interior designs. Note: Some of these images may be renderings rather than photos; we tried to clarify this with Greenpoint but they didn’t get back to us. But in any case, they sure are a thrill to see!
New: United’s sweet 50,000-mile bonus is back

How does your fully-flat business class seat compare to this king-sized roost in the 747’s owner’s suite?

The special 747 can also sleep at least eight guests in its “Aeroloft,” a sleeping section built behind the upper deck and accessible from the main deck by a customized staircase. Here’s one of the berths.

What’s a luxury plane ride without a full-sized living room, complete with big-screen TV and plush seating. Note the details like the table lamp and display shelving for pottery.

Every billionaire tycoon needs a nice office wherever he or she goes, and Greenpoint’s 747-8 does not disappoint.

Need to call the board members down from their sleeping berths for an emergency meeting? The 747-8 comes with a full-featured conference room that doubles as a dining room.
Greenpoint won a design award for the layout and decor of its customized 787-9 Dreamliner plan.

We’re not sure how big the bed is in the master suite, but it’s got to be a few notches above king-sized.
