Hertz Corp. said it is undertaking a “significant refresh” of the U.S. fleets of its three brands — Hertz, Dollar and Thrifty — by bringing in a wide variety of new 2015 models; in fact, the company said that as of April 30, it has added 235,000 new vehicles to its rental lots.
Have you tried one yet?
The new 2015 cars are coming from a wide range of manufacturers including Chrysler, Fiat, Ford, GM, Hyundai, Infiniti, Mazda, Kia, , Mercedes Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Toyota and Volkswagen.
New models that will be “prominent across U.S. locations,” Hertz said, include the Nissan Altima, Toyota Camry and Chevrolet Cruze.
The company is also updating its Dream Cars Collection of luxury vehicles by adding the 2015 Mercedes C-Class, the 355-hp Mercedes CLA45 AMG, and the Porsche Macan Turbo.
Hertz said that with the re-stocking of its domestic fleet, more than 80 percent of its cars will have fuel efficiency of at least 28 highway miles per gallon.

I just rented a brand-new car from Hertz in Nevada. I think it had 22 miles on it when I picked it up. Naturally, a pebble hit the windshield and caused a crack. A few weeks after I returned the car I got a bill for $627. I think new rental cars are jinxed.
I have rented from Hertz three times in the last month and have been very happy with the cars that I got. For the last two years Hertz had been running their cars into the ground, nothing like renting a car that is got 40,000 miles and is beat up. At the same time rental cars are no longer cheap, have you tried to get a deal during the week in a city like L.A. or Seattle, just not possible.
But as I said the last three cars rented, in Columbia South Carolina, Los Angeles and Seattle were brand new that still had that new car smell to them with very low miles.
But we are paying a lot for cars so they better be good.
As for these Dream cars let’s be serious, I would love to rent a Porsche but at between $300 and $450 a day I will stick with my $45 a day Chevy.
