Virgin’s first class seats look like big white marshmallows- only 8 per plane (Virgin America)
Looking for an escape from the teeming crowds at the back of the plane during what’s expected to be the busiest summer travel season… ever?
Then spend a little extra and fly up front. A new first class fare sale from Virgin America (likely to be matched by others) has the big seats priced not much higher than the skinny seats in the back all summer long. United has roundtrips between Atlanta and San Francisco (and other select markets) deeply discounted, too.
During peak season, it’s almost always worth the extra cost!
Some examples of round trip first class fares on offer for Virgin flights June 23 through August 26:
Washington DC -Dallas Love: $400
San Francisco or Los Angeles – Dallas Love: $600
Seattle-Los Angeles: $400
San Francisco-Seattle: $358
Las Vegas-San Francisco $378
Portland-San Francisco $338
Transcons are still pretty pricey (like $1,800 SFO or LAX to JFK), but here are a few long distance deals:
Chicago-San Francisco: $800
New York-Las Vegas $1,400

If you fly regularly between Atlanta and San Francisco like I do, then check this out! $650 round trip in first class on United – we have fares posted here for August, but they last through the end of the year. It does not appear that Delta has matched these low fares.

It is shocking how low first class fares have gotten. I am going roundtrip next week from Dulles to Seattle and I got $980 for full first class on United. Considering that coach was $550, think this was a pretty good deal. Of course I booked this in mid April, in looking a week before i am leaving the fare is $1,751 but if I go on July 4th it’s down to $1,162. So the secret is booking as far ahead as possible.
wow, those are some very nice domestic 1st class seats
