Get the new, improved Delta app and you get to the front of the line a lot faster.
Delta has rolled out an enhancement to its Fly Delta mobile app — and its website — to give customers more options for rebooking when their flight is canceled or delayed.
The company said the improvements let customers pick alternate departure or destination airports for other Delta flights, and also allow date changes and time searches in the “irregular operations” rebooking window.
The app will also assign seats for the new flight when possible; if none are available, it will add the traveler to the standby list.
“By giving our customers who use the Fly Delta app and delta.com more options to choose their own rebooking preferences, we will be able to help reduce lines at the airports and enhance the overall travel experience,” a spokeswoman said.
Delta plans to make another improvement this fall — one that will allow its computers to look for “unique and creative routings” for rebooking, the company said.
United updated its mobile app a couple of years ago to allow passengers to rebook canceled or delayed flights, either by accepting the option United selected for them or searching for alternates on their own.

Pure and simple facts of life when you get cancelled on United? You will have a choice, you either have to wait at least six hours and probably two days getting to that destination. So the best course of action is to tell them to screw off and get your money back, that hits them hard and they really go out of their way to rebook you. But that is sometimes your best and only course of action, just forget about the trip and get a full refund. Now in the cases of bad weather or something that the airlines can wiggle out of, your most the time screwed and the airlines will squeeze you on not refunding your money, unless it’s a big weather problem and they know they will get bad publicity on if they don’t refund your money.
Not to be boring, but, let’s make it a grand slam – its the DM phone line for me as well.
Used this alert several times. Nice and easy. What I’ve found or think I’ve found is delta has already saved me a seat on the choices. I will head to the DM phone line when I know there is going to be an issue and they just haven’t announced it. If you’ve been flying anytime one’s Spidy Scences begin to tingle.
When this happens on Delta I call the Diamond line.
i DM the @deltaassist and they have been amazing and re booking and even protecting me on flights before I miss them
