In domestic route news, big changes are coming soon to key transcontinental routes; Alaska Airlines adds a pair of new transcon markets; and American will fly to several new destinations from New York LaGuardia.
- Starting on October 1, Delta will add 767-300ERs on its lucrative SFO-JFK run, and by Oct 25 the widebody will be on three of its eight daily roundtrips between SFO and JFK. At around the same time, it will start increase its LAX-JFK departures from nine to 10 a day using a mix of 757s and 767s.

- Also on October 25, United will pull its premium “p.s.” LAX and SFO transcon flights out of New York JFK and move them to its big hub at Newark Liberty International.
- Alaska Airlines this month started flying in a pair of new transcontinental markets. It launched new daily non-stops between Los Angeles International and Baltimore/Washington, along with new daily roundtrips linking Seattle with New York JFK, a route dominated by Delta. On both routes, the eastbound segment is a redeye.
- American Airlines will add new destinations from New York LaGuardia this winter. On December 17, it will launch daily 737-800 service from LaGuardia to Orlando. And effective January 5, it will start flying from LGA to Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Minneapolis-St. Paul, operating three daily roundtrips in each market with two-class Embraer 170s. Meanwhile, AA will also scale back some Pittsburgh service this fall, dropping Pittsburgh-Hartford service November 4, and ending Pittsburgh-St. Louis flights November 30.

“Glitzing up the facilities” at Newark Airport is like putting lipstick on a pig.
Given the large number of people in the photo enjoying the bar, it seems many people think it was quite a good idea
The picture shown above of a new lounge (bar) at the beginning of the corridor at Terminal C in Newark, proves the greediness of the Port Authority. This replaces a large section of a moving walkway, which came in handy, since Terminal C is so large. This really annoys the hell out of me!
I still prefer the 767 over the 777 any day of the week.
