Don’t miss: Airlines quickly fill JFK void
It’s gross to find gunk on your tray table, crumbs in your seat, trash in the seatback pocket, or sticky light switches or air conditioning vents.
I usually refrain from touching anything in an airplane lavatory without a paper towel between me and said knob, button or handle.
But I’m not as queasy about cleanliness when I’m flying on Asian carriers, which are almost always spotlessly clean. And flight attendants keep them that way by cleaning the plane before, during and after a flight.

So it was little surprise when airline review and ranking site SkyTrax named the airlines with the cleanest cabins this week, and every single one was an Asian carrier.

SkyTrax, which polls frequent flyers for its annual awards, says, “Passengers were asked to assess the standards and quality of cleanliness in the aircraft cabin on the airlines they were voting for. Seat areas, tables, carpets, cabin panels and of course the aircraft washrooms all contribute towards the final results.”
