
World’s happiest countries are dark green. Least happy are red
How often do you get to take a happy trip to one of the top 10 happiest countries in the world?
I’m flying through Switzerland next week and will be on the lookout for smiles 🙂
Why?
Well, in the recently released 2015 World Happiness Report, Switzerland ranks as the most happy country in the world, followed by:

The U.S. ranks 15th, up slightly from the last Happiness report in 2013. Interesting: In the western hemisphere, Mexico and Costa Rica rank as happier than the U.S.Â
Happiness data is gathered via a worldwide Gallup poll sponsored by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network. Factors in determining a country’s happiness include: GDP per capita, social support, life expectancy, freedom to make life choices, generosity, and perceptions of corruption, among others. On the other end of the spectrum, the least happy countries include Togo, Burundi, Syria, Benin and Rwanda.
I found it interesting to see how many developing countries in Latin America experienced the greatest increases in happiness over the last decade:

And given the economic strife in Greece, it’s not too surprising that it tops the list of those countries with the greatest declines in happiness.
